The major areas of scientific activity of the head of sport medicine department, Director of Scientific Research Institute of Sport Medicine of Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth and Tourism, Professor, Doctor of Medicine, Academician of the Academy of Natural Sciences Smolensky Andrey V, are directly connected with issues of sport cardiology and the identification of cardiac factors limiting athlete’s physical capacity, early detection and prevention of cardio vascular system overstrain and monitoring athletes with boarder-line cardiac pathology and study of a sudden death problem in sport.
A.V.Smolensky’s scientific research is also devoted to the problems of reproductive system pathology in women athletes and to rehabilitation treatment of athletes, particularly of those with locomotor diseases
